How often have you heard a speaker at a wine tasting say: "Of course, this would taste so much better with food"? So I decided to try it, and almost six years ago held a Ch. Musar Fine Wine Supper. It was intended as a one-off, but the 40 or so present demanded another one, so maybe quarterly? But folk wanted it more often still, so my son, Paul, and I now hold them monthly, on the last Friday of each month except December, at 6.30 pm.

They have always been held at a Davy’s Wine Bar in London , currently the Boardroom at Skinkers – just south of London Bridge station. The usual format is a Champagne Reception, up to three wines with each course of a three-course meal, and port with the coffee. Usual cost is £69.50, except in November when it is £99.50. We don't aim to make a profit, and if income exceeds expenditure, then an extra wine is included.

The fine wine lunch on a Saturday in Purley has now become an annual fixture , and other Saturday lunches are due to take place during 2012.
